Report Guidance and Formats Updated
The Pre and Post 16 Report Formats and Additional Guidance documents have been updated
calendar07/10/2021

Since the release, in 2020, of the new SASC Pre and Post 16 Report Formats for diagnostic assessment and the Additional Guidance document that provides further explanatory detail, SASC has received a number of requests for further clarification and minor amendments to sections of the Report Formats and Guidance. In March 2021 SASC also released new guidance regarding diagnostic assessment conducted remotely via video platform.

SASC has now updated the Pre and Post 16 Report Formats and Additional Guidance documents, which can be accessed from the links below and are also available in the Downloads section of the website. Assessors are advised to read each document carefully. All changes and additions to the wording (apart from very minor typographical changes) are highlighted in YELLOW for easy access. Most changes concern clarification and further pertinent information: assessors should find very few significant changes will be necessary to their assessment practice, although a few small changes will need to be made to report writing templates.

Minor clarifications and changes following publication of updated report formats and additional guidance on October 7th 2021

SASC wants to thank eagle-eyed assessors who pointed out some typos and omissions in the updated pre and post 16 formats and additional guidance. These have now been corrected as noted below:

1.       Additional Guidance p.1. This now contains the additional clarification, ‘Reports written from the 1st December 2021 should reflect the updated formats.'

2.       Pre and post 16 formats, p12. Under the Attainment section, the wording of the ‘number, estimation and calculation' heading is now consistent across both age ranges.

3.       Post 16 format, p.3. The requirement to list ‘Course name / Year' had been inadvertently omitted. This has now been put back in.

4.       Post 16 format, p.1. A typo in the first sentence has been corrected to ‘for learners over 16 years of age' (rather than under 16).

5.       Pre and post 16 formats, Appendix 3. The requirement to give a definition of dyscalculia had been omitted. This has now been corrected.

After reading the updated formats and additional guidance, please contact sasc@sasc.org.uk If you have any further questions.
