New authorisation scheme for training providers.
Training providers can now apply online to become authorised by SASC to design and deliver courses to meet the CPD requirements of SpLD assessment practitioners.
calendar21/04/2010

In March 2010 SASC launched its new website enabling CPD training providers to apply on-line to become SASC authorised and have their CPD provision listed on the new SASC website.

In recent years the demand for diagnostic assessments of specific learning difficulties has grown considerably. Many specialist assessors who are engaged in this work are required to hold an Assessment Practicing Certificate (APC) which must be renewed every three years. Professionals applying to renew their APC must have a personal record of continuing professional development (CPD). This shows how they are keeping their assessment knowledge, understanding and skills up to date.

From 2012 there is a new requirement that a minimum of five hours of this CPD must be delivered by a SASC Authorised provider.

This new SASC website will be an important source of information and is likely to become the first port of call for specialist assessors who are looking for suitable training to meet their CPD needs. The launch of this new website is an opportunity for training providers to design and develop CPD courses that will meet the future needs of specialist assessors. It also provides an opportunity for training providers to apply to become recognised as SASC authorised CPD providers in time to benefit those assessors who are building their CPD evidence for the renewal of their APC in 2012 and beyond.

If you would like to know more about this new development and how your organisation can be involved please go to the CPD Authorisation page and follow links or contact SASC at:
