New SASC authorisation scheme for the continuing professional development of specialist teachers and other professionals engaged in the diagnostic assessment of Specific Learning Difficulties.
In recent years the demand for diagnostic assessments of specific learning difficulties has grown considerably. Many specialist assessors who are engaged in this work are required to hold an Assessment Practicing Certificate which must be renewed every three years. Professionals wishing to renew their Assessment Practicing Certificate must have a personal record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to show how they are keeping their assessment knowledge, understanding and skills up to date.
From 2012 there is a new requirement that a minimum of 5 hours of this CPD must be delivered by SASC Authorised Providers.
In March 2010 SASC launched this new website enabling CPD providers to apply on-line to become SASC authorised and have their CPD provision listed on the new site. SASC has developed this new Authorisation Scheme and website in response to the recommendations of the DfES SpLD Working Group 2005. The new website will be an important source of information and is likely to become the first port of call for those professionals who are looking for suitable CPD training courses delivered by SASC authorised providers to meet their needs. More details of authorised CPD courses will be added to the list as training providers complete the application process and these can be accessed via the CPD link on the navigation bar at the top of this page. |
