Reading tasks
The authors recommend that practice items are always used to
ensure consistency and understanding of instructions. The authors believe that
this is best practice.
The authors recommend that oral reading passages should be
continued unless 15 errors are made and silent reading passages should be
continued until the time allowed is exceeded.
However, if the student is experiencing particular
difficulties, the assessor needs to use their professional judgement whether
the student is able to continue or not. These recommendations mean that, in
some cases, the tests may take rather a long time to complete.
Writing task
The authors have designed the two minute writing task as a
structured measure of the ability to convert ideas in the head to paper within
a specific time period. It is not intended as a comprehensive measure of
writing. The precis writing task may give valuable insights into some aspects
of writing but, to get a fuller picture, assessors should also consider using
another measure of writing.
Assessors should read the instructions very carefully to
ensure that the ART2 test is carried out in the correct way and that the
results are interpreted correctly. SpLD Test Evaluation Committee - March 2017 |
